A comparison site with one opinion and no advertisers

The opinion

Marketing automation solved distribution twenty years ago and has been polishing it ever since. Segment a list, branch a journey, send at the right hour: every platform on our comparison page does all of that competently, and the differences between them are now smaller than the differences between two people using them.

Production never got solved. Somebody still has to write the page, design the layout, produce the images, lay out the flyer and draft the article. For a company with a marketing team that is a scheduling problem. For a company of three it is the whole problem, and no amount of workflow automation touches it.

So we score tools on it. That is the entire editorial position of this site, and it is why our ranking looks different from everyone else's.

Who publishes this

The Marketing Automator is published by the team behind ChattyPage, an AI platform that generates websites, landing pages, articles, social sets and print. ChattyPage appears in our rankings, currently in first place on the comparison page.

We are aware of how that looks. Our response is to publish the full scoring method, to score ChattyPage's weaknesses honestly (it has the lowest ceiling of any tool we rank, and no lifecycle email engine at all), and to take no money from any vendor, ever, including our own. There are no affiliate links on this site. There is no advertising. Nothing on this site can be bought.

How we work

• Prices come from vendors' own published pricing pages, with the check date shown on the page.
• Where a vendor publishes no price, we say so rather than quoting an estimate as fact.
• Rankings are re-scored quarterly, and sooner when a vendor ships something that moves a criterion.
• Corrections are made in place and dated. We do not quietly edit a number.

We read everything and we correct real errors quickly. We do not accept guest posts, link exchanges or sponsored placements, so those emails go unanswered.
